The DISTO X3 is also the first model in the lineup that has an angle sensor. It powers a digital level and guarantees a level horizontal measurement in situations where accuracy is paramount and it is difficult or impossible to avoid taking the measurement at an angle.

The intelligent tripod adapter Leica DST 360 is the ideal complement for the Leica DISTO X3 and X4. It enables the measurement of a distance between any two points, the capturing of 2D and 3D data for further processing in CAD programs and the precise targeting of an object. The sturdy metal housing ensures optimum robustness and consistently accurate measurement results.
The DST 360 transforms a Leica DISTO X3 or X4 into a Point-to-Point (P2P) measuring station.
Typically, you place an LDM on Point A to measure to Point B. With a P2P DISTO, you measure from Point A to Point B from Point C using a tripod and a DST adapter. Simply measure to Point A and rotate to Point B to take a second measurement. The DST enables the DISTO to capture the distance between the two points.
The DST’s sturdy metal construction, micro adjustments, and precise rotation and angle sensors ensure accurate measurements.
The DST 360 can be upgraded to work with an X6 by swapping in a DST 360-X mount.

Automatically Correct Angled Measurements
A laser beam is perfectly straight by definition, making it more accurate than a tape measure. That is also why a laser measurement taken at an angle returns a longer value: An angled line to a plane is longer than a level one. More often than not, this level horizontal distance is the measurement you need.
This fact of geometry can be a problem on active sites where stacks of materials, machinery or other obstacles prevent a level horizontal measurement. The longer the measurement, the greater the error.
In Smart Horizontal mode, DISTOs use the reading from an angle sensor to correct a measurement taken at an angle. The result is an accurate level measurement even if you have to aim over obstacles on the job site.
Ensure accurate measurements from corners and tight places
The Multi-functional endpiece folds out from the back of the DISTO and automatically sets the measuring point to either the rear of the DISTO or the tip of the extended endpiece.
This DISTO-exclusive feature ensures that the DISTO is measuring precisely from an outside corner (a very common use case). When fully extended, it is possible to measure from the back of openings as narrow as 2.5mm. Combined with Min/Max mode, there is no better method for determining the precise corner-to-corner measurement of a rough opening when installing windows or doors.

In area mode, the DISTO determines the area of a rectangular or square space in two measurements. Volume mode adds a third vertical measurement to calculate the volume of a space.
