BLK360 at Taliesin West
Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert laboratory and home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, was captured using the world’s smallest and lightest imaging laser scanner, the BLK360 from Leica Geosystems. The digital reality it produced provides a completely new way to experience Taliesin West. The video below shows the property in point cloud form, which is a dimensionally accurate laser captured representation of the property. This type of data is invaluable for the preservation of Taliesin West.
3D Digital Reality:
A point cloud is a dimensionally accurate laser reproduction of the property that can be used for the Foundation's preservation efforts. The point cloud can even be loaded in popular CAD and BIM software for highly accurate renovations and careful design changes should the need arise.

Preserving Wright's Legacy
There are no accurate drawings of Taliesin West. The BLK360 point cloud offers the foundation a complete, accurate digital reproduction of the property and structures. The data can be used to model floorplans and elevations, and can be used to design new elements that address the modern challenges of a historic building that is visited by over 100,000 people annually.

Tour the Drafting Studio at Taliesin West where Wright designed some of his most famous works including the Guggenheim. Using Reality Cloud Studio you can even take accurate measurements of architectural elements in the studio.
