Outdoor Measurements

Bright environments, large distances and unevenness, place very special demands on laser measures when measuring outdoors. Thanks to innovative technologies and suitable accessories, Leica DISTO laser measurement tools can meet these challenges.

Digital Pointfinder

The integrated Pointfinder of the Leica DISTO D5 and X6 allows easy and quick aiming in bright sunlight and at distant objects. Even if the laser point can no longer be seen, the target is clearly visible in the crosshairs on the large, high-resolution colour display of the laser measuring tool. This makes distance measurements over long distances absolutely precise.

Height Profile Measurement

With the Leica DISTO D5 and X6 it is very easy to create a height profile. To do this, the laser measure is placed along the profile line to be determined and a reference point is measured to which the height differences should relate. The individual points are then measured. For each measured point, both the height difference and the distance to the reference point are recorded. The height profile can then be drawn from these values.

Measure Outlines and Points in the Field

Corner points of a property can be easily determined with a laser measurement tool. The Leica DISTO X6 package is ideal for this. In combination with the DISTO Plan App, the contours can be drawn directly as a plan. Important points such as a tree or manhole cover can also be recorded in this way. The data can then be exported as a DWG or DXF file for further processing in CAD.

Determine Excavation Simply

Using a laser measuring tool with P2P Technology and the "Earthworks" function in the DISTO Plan app, the volume of an excavation can be determined. This functionality also allows complex volume measurements that take into account the slope angle between the top and bottom of the excavation.

Accessories for Precise Targeting Outdoors

Measurements with a laser measure are only as accurate as the accessories allow them to be. And especially when measuring over long distances, small inaccuracies have a big impact on the measurement result. That is why Leica Geosystems offers a wide range of accessories that fit precisely to the Leica DISTO and the respective application.

Target Plates for Long Distances

For accurate aiming with the digital Pointfinder over long distances and in sunshine, there is the Leica TPD 100 kit. It contains a target plate with easy-to-see markings, a handy aluminium measuring pole and a bubble to align the whole thing vertically. In addition, there are other target plates that increase the range or can be placed directly above a ground marker.

Stable Precision Tripods

A stable and levelled base is crucial for reliable measurements. That is why the tripods in the Leica TRI series are characterised by high stability and robustness. The TRI 200 even has the characteristics of a survey tripod, but is still suitable for use with Leica DISTO instruments due to the ¼'' screw.
