X3

Range:500ft 1000ft
Functions: 13 19

The X-series is the next generation of job site DISTOs. The X3 is ideal for interior construction, as-built measuring, and for outdoor use at shorter ranges where the laser dot is visible to the naked eye.

The X-series is just as tough as earlier Job Site DISTOs – with an IP65 and 2-meter drop test ratings – and also features a Tilt Sensor to enable Smart Horizontal measurements over obstacles on the job site.

In addition, the X3 has a rotatable display that makes it easier to read from any angle and Bluetooth® connectivity to apps, including the new DISTO Plan App.

The X3 supports the DISTO Plan app’s Smart Room function, which makes creating floor plans that can be exported to CAD a breeze, and it is compatible with the DST360, which enables Point to Point measurements.

Integrated Bluetooth® Smart technology enables wireless transfer of measurement data to a computer or mobile device, which helps to streamline your workflow and makes your measurement data accessible across multiple devices, apps, and programs.

The combination of distance and tilt measurements allows for quick and precise horizontal measurements. This function makes it possible to measure horizonal distances even if objects block the measurement target.

In area mode, the DISTO determines the area of a rectangular or square space in two measurements. Volume mode adds a third vertical measurement to calculate the volume of a space.

The stake out function uses the continuous measurement mode to indicate where to place stakes along a stake-out line. Ideal for any situation where you need to place objects at a consistent interval. The display shows the distance to the next stake out point and the DISTO beeps as you approach it.

Take indirect height and width measurements using the Pythagorean Theorem.

The key is to make sure your second shot -- the "rectangular shot" -- is perpendicular to the point you are measuring, shown as the 90° angle in the images. The best way to ensure accuracy is to use a tripod and an adapter.

Store measurements and images with measurements associated with them.

It's not always as simple as taking one shot to get the measurement you need. Sometimes you need to add multiple shots together, or subtract a negative space from a measurement. As you use the Add/Subtract function, the final result is displayed on the main line and the last measurement taken is shown above.

The Ingress Protection (IP) rating is the protection level against dust and water. The first number indicates dust, and the second indicates water. An IP65 device is rated to be completely dust-tight (6) and protected against jets of water (5).

In Min/Max mode, you "sweep" the laser point into a corner. The longest measurement is recorded. Very useful for accurate diagonal room or window/door measurements.

The intelligent endpiece folds out from the base of the DISTO to help with inside and outside corner measurements, diagonal measurements, and rough openings. The endpiece is directly connected to the DISTO circuit board and automatically adds the length of the endpiece to the distance measured from the base of the DISTO.

Chances are you will use some functions more than others.

Instead of opening the function menu and searching for the functions you use the most, you can link the buttons on either side of the ON/DIST button to your faviorite functions.

From then on, you just hit one of the buttons to activate your most-used features.

Set a timer to delay a measurement the same way you would with the shutter on a digital camera.

Smart Room

Can you pick a direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) and walk around a room? Then you can use Smart Room to create accurate floorplans quickly and easily.

x4

The X4 is the best choice for working outdoors on active job sites. It has the same features and form factor as the X3, with one major upgrade: The X4 is the first DISTO in the lineup that includes an outdoor point finder camera.

With a max range of 500 feet, the X4 can measure distances that exceed the naked eye’s ability to see the laser dot on your target, particularly outside in bright conditions.

The 4x zoom digital point finder camera feeds a live shot to the X4’s rotatable color display. Simply use standard touchscreen gestures to zoom in or out and, place the crosshairs on your measurement point, and take your measurement.

Combined with a DST360 tripod adaptor, the X4 can take Point to Point (P2P) measurements, transforming it into a true measurement station. The X4+DST360 P2P package is the only DISTO setup that includes P2P, a pointfinder camera, and an Intelligent Endpiece.

Range:500ft 1000ft
Measurement Modes:13 19

The onboard digital camera features a 4x digital zoom "point finder" that shows you where the laser dot is if you cannot see it. Target the spot you are measuring to with the crosshairs on the screen and press the button to measure.

Integrated Bluetooth® Smart technology enables wireless transfer of measurement data to a computer or mobile device, which helps to streamline your workflow and makes your measurement data accessible across multiple devices, apps, and programs.

Pointfinder Camera

Q: How do you measure long distances when the range of your Laser Distance Meter exceeds your ability to see the laser dot on your target?

A: Aim with a 4x zoom digital pointfinder camera.

DST 360

Take an X3 or X4 to the next level by turning them into remote measurement stations with the DST 360.

It used to be that you had to hold an LDM at Point A in order to measure to Point B. With our Point-to-Point (P2P) technology, you can measure from Point A to Point B remotely from Point C.

This is a huge feature for anyone who needs to measure things that are hard to get to. Here are just a few use cases. P2P is used by:

  • Solar installers to take accurate roof measurements (including angle) from the ground.

  • Transportation Engineers who can measure things like the area above a tunnel entrance from the side of the road without having to stop traffic.

  • Utility workers to measure the distance between wires on a pole from the ground without waving a long “measurement stick” around high-voltage lines.

Measurements taken with a  DST 360 can be used in apps like the free DISTO Plan App, and can measure points in 3D space for export to CAD.
